Verified Reviewer |Damage done to our home through faulty refrigerator installation
We purchased a refrigerator from Gerhards. The water line to the ice maker was not properly connected, and water poured into our lower level that damaged the ceiling, carpeting, and personal effects. We have tried repeatedly to get them to respond to the costs of correcting the damage, to no avail.

They came out finally, and it just took them a little long. They had a full day and they had to squeeze me in so yeah, yes, they did fix everything.So it's perfect and they were wonderful
They say they can't hear me and they're gonna call me back.I think they'full of crap they sold us a broken dryer, and now they won'come fix it, we had an appointment today to fix it. And now nobody is showing up. And they will not talk to me on the phone, they say they can't hear me.They are lying.Fix this problem now I want my dryer
Poor service
We were told that our delivery was set for 11am-3pm so I took off work that day. They never showed up so I called after 3pm and they told me they were still coming just arriving late.
I then called again and they told me the same thing. I called a third time to see where my delivery was and they were closed. No one told me that was delivery was not arriving and I had to reschedule. Took a day off of work for no reason.
Then I scheduled my delivery for the next week and when it finally came, it turns out our sales rep told us to order the wrong product even though we gave her all the details. Asked for refund and will not be working with them again.

Problem with customer service
We had bought a General Electric washer dryer from your Warrington store. When delivered it was damaged and a service representative came and decided it would need major work.
When I went to talk with the sales representative they gave me the run around on giving me an answer on what would happen, they were quite rude. I went to Home Depot and bought a new machine with information on what would happen if we received a damage machine and how quickly we would get a new one, not weeks like your policy. I finally was able to talk to some one in Warrington and they were to process the cancelled order and get back to me the same day, Tuesday on when it would be picked up. I never received a call and when I finally I called the delivery department they said it would be August 19th.
Out machine from Home Depot is to be delivered August 17th. When I would call the Warrington store no one would answer my call.
Your customer service is unacceptable and in trying to help me they made things more difficult. I don’t see why the machine can’t be picked up sooner and I want proof that my order is cancelled and my credit card is debited.

On November 18, 2019, I purchased a dishwasher from the Gerhards Appliances Glenside store.
When the installer pulled out our old dishwasher, he said that it was over 40 years old. He said that he needed to go out to his truck to get a connector that would accommodate the new dishwasher.
He said that the new part and installation would cost $125 and had to be paid in cash. I gave him the $125. After he left I looked at the bill.
Two of the itemized entries were:
INSTALLDW (Install Dishwasher) $150
P-DWKIT1 (DishwasherInstall Kit) $25
I called the Glenside store and spoke with Manager #1. He told me that he would get back to me.
He never did.
I called again and spoke to Manager #2. She said that Manager #3 would get back to me. He never did.
I called Manager #3 three times and each time I was told that he was engaged elsewhere in the store.
I called a fourth time and told the receptionist that I would wait for Manager #3 to come to the phone. When Manager #3 came to the phone he said that he had discussed the matter with the installer, who said, It never happened.
I wrote an online review saying that I was unhappy with the service I received from Gerhards appliances.
I did not list the specific details as I hoped the problem could be resolved. A Gerhards business employee responded to my review. I sent her a version of the above letter detailing the problem (mentioning the names of Gerhards staff with whom I spoke).
She responded that she sent my letter on to the appropriate persons in the company and that they would contact me to discuss my concern.
It is over two months since I was told that Gerhards would respond. They never responded, so I am making my letter public (with the names of the installer, managers and business employee redacted).
If you deal with Gerhard's and the installer asks for additional cash, I suggest that you call the store manager and ask him/her if the installer is being honest.

Sold me damaged dryer and refused to replace it.
We bought a Dryer from Gerhard's (Jordan was out salesman). It arrived dented and with a large dark/rough area in the back.
The installers took a picture and submitted it. It took Jordan about a week and a half to get me answer of no. I had to call him repeatedly. He didn't call me back.He said that I've had it too long.
I've been trying to exchange it since I got it.
I guess we will file a suit. Ridiculous.

Excellent experience
We have been a long time loyal customer of Gerhards in Glenside for all our appliances. We just purchased a new refrigerator and dishwasher this week for Christmas Eve delivery.
The purchase process took less than 30 minutes total. The salesman was friendly and helpful, Delivery occurred as requested first thing. The installers were efficient and helpful.
Will absolutely continue to recommend the local business. Too often people only write a review after a negative experience.
Worst experience ever
Let me preface this review by saying my experience with Gerhard’s is the absolute worst retail experience I’ve ever encountered. I purchased four new appliances (a stove, dishwasher, refrigerator and vent hood) from Gerhard’s in November 2018.
My wife and I decided to buy from Gerhard’s because we wanted to support a local company. I had never purchased anything from Gerhard’s before and after this experience will likely never again. To begin with, for delivery they gave me a several hour window for delivery which they kept pushing back (because they way overbooked) but told me they would definitely be delivering that day. Then they never showed and never called.
By 9pm I finally figured they wouldn’t be coming that day. The next morning I called to find out when they’d be coming to deliver my appliances and they wanted to push me off until later because they had other deliveries scheduled. When I complained that I should be first, they gave in and said ok they would schedule me first for the day. In the first month, my new Kitchenaid dishwasher failed and the pump had to be replaced.
From the beginning the Samsung fridge never kept the correct temperature. It varied from 42 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit (not a safe temp to store food). My wife and I have a new baby (she just turned one but when we bought the fridge she was about 6 months old). I called Gerhard’s about the faulty appliances and they scheduled their affiliate repair company “Fast Appliance.” They replaced the pump in the dishwasher and the fan in the fridge.
The dishwasher repair worked and we haven’t had a problem with it since then. However, the fridge repair did not work and they came out a few weeks later to replace a sensor. That did not work either. A few weeks later they were out again and informed me there was a Freon leak and that they had to replace the compressor.
After they replaced the compressor the fridge stopped working completely. They then wanted to replace the compressor again. At that point I called Samsung and told them I wanted a replacement fridge. After several calls they did agree to replace it.
However, Gerhard’s refused to do the exchange. I spoke with several people from Gerhards’s and each was incredibly rude and unprofessional - Ashley, a “service manager,” Trish, a “delivery manager,” and TJ Scully, a “customer service manager.” I have to say I’ve never been treated so rudely and poorly by so many service representatives from one company. These people were absolutely no help and displayed no empathy for all the problems I experienced from the products their company sold me. Specifically, Ashley was the rudest of the three.
When I told her how frustrated I was, she asked me to explain. When I explained all the problems with the fridge, the delivery etc. she told me I needed to take a breath, cut me off and then put me on hold without telling me she. This is the absolutely most rudest I’ve ever been treated on the phone by anyone.
Trish was supposed to call me back with an update but never did. When I spoke with TJ he was very condescending and said they were refusing to do the fridge exchange that Samsung had approved but wouldn’t provide me a reason. Then he called me back later and just said that their delivery department was refusing to do the exchange. The Samsung reps said they had never heard of a retailer refusing to do an exchange like that.
After multiple calls with Samsung, I was finally able to get them to give me a full cash refund for the fridge. After over a month without a fridge, I received the refund and purchased an LG fridge from Best Buy. Best Buy was awesome. They delivered on time and communicated very professionally - I received two calls, text messages and emails.
I’ve had the new fridge for about two weeks and it’s working great. Don’t be fooled by Gerhard’s.
Stay away. They are absolutely terrible.
Worse than bad service, no service for almost one year!
I should have read reviews before buying a $10,000 built in refrigerator from this store in Doylestown. I did all my research online and then went to the store to place the order for the refrigerator I wanted.
I thought by going to the store I would get better service for the install and the panel that was needed to match my cabinets. I was assured by the salesman that service was number one with the store, NOT SO! I paid for the refrigerator, it was delayed for weeks, no calls, no follow up, no refrigerator. Then one day I see a delivery truck pull up on our driveaway, it was our refrigerator.
We rushed to contact the installer Gerhard's recommended, Giovanni. The installer was to set up the panel carpenter in August 2018. It is now July 2019, no panel.
One excuse after another including going to Italy over Christmas by Giovanni, the person who was suppose to get and install the panels. The service from this store is the worse I have ever experienced, stay away!

Units sold were not specified properly or installed properly for the application. Owner of company has refused to accept return of the units in accordance with their return policy on the order.
Company's technician inspected the units and the installation and stated that the company should not sold the units to me. Owner and general manager of company have refused to acknowledge the issue or contact me directly.

Poor/lousy service and Lies
At this point in time no resolution as I never heard back from Gerhards Appliance. I suppose they no longer want my business.
Think twice before you buy there. I was suprised but something is wrong with them.

I called the store next day and the woman on the phone said yes that is all you get you didn't have the correct fittings or they would have attached the quick connect fitting to the gas line. I said you can't charge me for installation as it is not connected. Then I get this crazy run around making me call the next person who says I have to talk to the salesperson who sold it to me. He is not in I have to call the next day. I call at 9am he's not in yet. I call at 12:30 he is busy with a customer. They say we will have him call you right back.
I end up showing up at the store about an hour later in which I see him walking around only one other customer in the store at that time and he is not waiting on them. I show him the picture of the unconnected grill and say do you think this is a complete installation? He says no! I say did you call my house yet he says no I have been too busy!!! Of course it's not installed and instead of an easy refund of my money for an installation they never did I get drama kings and queens who spin their own nightmare.
The woman at the counter starts a conversation with me saying I am the one you spoke with all along and that I told you we had to get approval from the owner. A absolute total lie right to my face. I tell her it's a lie and why would I come into the store if that was true and she throws her hands up in the air and walks away from the register. She presented with an angry demeanor and left this customer standing there to wonder what the *** is going on here. This was so easy to resolve it isn't funny. It could have been esolved with my first phone call. Instead they made a major drama out of an easy situation. Now the salesman has to finish this refund and keeps saying to me how he was so really busy.
Yes I hear you Gerhard's loud and clear you are too busy to take care of this long time loyal customer who has purchased lots and lots of appliances and other things from your store over the years. No time for loyal customers.... shame on you guys!!! That is not how your Father or Grandfather developed your business. It was all about customer service back then. I know customer service is a thing of the past but the way in which you handled this leads me to believe you no longer want my business and you know what I know lots of people in Philadelphia as well as out on the main line. They aren't going to like this story. Fix your stores or go out of business. I refuse to be treated like this ever again. And for those new customers don't even bother going here better off at a large package store compared to these guys.
You know why this article is on here because I asked for the owners e-mail and I was never sent it. Instead I have to air my complaint on the internet again such poor service. I will never shop or buy here again. And just to remind everyone this is what Charles Gerhard said: Which is now a big lie!!
In the past 70+ years, the times, products, and technology have changed. However, one thing remains steadfast: Charles Gerhard's vision and core principles. "It's all about the customer, not the product." Mr. Gerhard said in 1957, "We don't sell appliances. We sell customer service. Always have & always will."

Horrible Service
I purchased a dishwasher from Gerhards of Ardmore, PA in January of 2018 long with a 5 year service plan. I needed service for a broken shelf in MArch of 2019 and contacted Gerhards who gave me the # of their service vendor.
I called the vendor and was put on hold for 4 hours before I gave up. I called Gerhards from another phone while on hold and told them my problem and they said that they couldn't help me. I also left manager a voicemail and sent an email and neither was answered.
I finally called Kitchen Aide's service department and they set up a service visit and also said that they would cover the cost of the call because of my problem with Gerhards. I will continue to purchase Kitchen Aide products - just not from Gerhards.
Delivery issues
We really wanted to like Gerhards. Always better to support the local folks. Recently purchased a new refrigerator. Got a nice price and what we wanted. We took 1/2 day off from work for delivery. Utilized their nice tracking system on the website to see up-to-date tracking information. Although the stated time for delivery was between 3-7 pm, we weren't too upset when the system said 7:15, until...
We heard from the company that they weren't going to deliver and the truck was going back. The truck was literally a few miles away.
Now we are in a scheduling nightmare to try to get the refrigerator. They would not accommodate us to be first the following day due to the botched delivery. Going to be many more days of take-out delivery food because it's likely going to be another week. The delivery folks on the phone were generally "meh" and not apologetic for our inconvenience.
Wish we would have read the reviews of the company first. They have a lot of work to do with their delivery service.

I hope there is negative star I can choose. I went to their Ardmore store.
This store is a liar. I ordered six appliances from them for two address. The first trip delivery guy didn't install anything for me by using ridiculous excuses. They said they can't move anything above knees.
I had to take off a cabinet by myself. Thank god my contractor was there that day. When I placed the order I mentioned I have an extra washer need them to haul away, they said they can do it if the truck has space. The delivery guy said they don't have space.
I said if I give you $20 tips will you have space? They took it IMM. The second trip was even worse. The delivery guy said can't pass the stairs, have to take off the back door of my house.
But they can't do it. I have to find someone do it by myself. And they will come back to install. I said please take the washer and dryer back as I can't use them now and I don't want to pay again for your next visit.
The delivery guy said NO, we are not going to charge you again as today's job is unfinished. That day was really hot and I feel bad to let them move heavy stuff in and out. So I agreed they can leave the washer and dryer in my sunroom. I called a friend who has tools.
He came over and took off the door easily. I called Gerhard IMM try to get them back. But all 8 calls were connected to their voice mail. That was 6:00pm, their store is open until 8:00pm.
I can only ask my friend to put the door back. The next day I called them, guess what? They insisted there has to be additional charge for installation. I said your delivery guy PROMISED it will free!
The office said they are wrong, there has to be charge. Come on, this is cheating! And, they said they will not touch my door, and they can not come until five days later. So, I have to get someone come over on the day they are coming, take off the door, wait for them, then put back the door after they leave.
This is ridiculous! I said then I have to return because I can’t meet your requirement. They said then we will charge stocking fee. Unbelievable!
Now I have the washer and dryer sitting in my sunroom and mountain of cloth waiting to be washed. I seriously don’t understand how can such as a store survive the business. They are rude and liar.
Can’t imagine if any of six appliances goes wrong, what a terrifying experience is waiting for me! Stay away from them!

Promised 700 dollar rebate not received
I purchased a Bosch dishwasher three months ago and was told I would receive a $700 rebate. My decision to buy from Gerhards, rather than Home Depot was based on the promised rebate. I send in the rebate request to Gerhard's, provided the requested information regarding the appliance, and have received nothing back, not even an acknowledgment that the request was received. I called Gerhards several times, left messages, and no one returns my calls. I am an attorney, teach part-time at Villanova law school and served as an Army JAGC during the Viet Nam era. Gerhards' handling of my request to date has me wondering if Gerhard is engaging in some type of rebate scheme or questionable business practice. I am not going away and I want the rebate. I was happy with the appliance and installation, but very disappointed in the rebate matter.
